Native Delawarean, George Smiley graduated from William Penn High School in 1973 and is a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He has served as past president of the Community Civic Association and co-chairman of the Administration/Finance Committee for New Castle County Council, and was inducted into the William Penn High School Hall of Fame in 2017.
