In January 2022, Councilor Edward M. Flynn was unanimously elected by his colleagues to serve as Council President. A resident of District 2, he previously served as a Probation Officer and for 24 years in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy reserve, including Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. He also worked for five years in the U.S. Department of Labor under President Clinton.
