Sarah Hempel Irani is passionate about pedestrian safety, neighborhood connectivity, the role of the built environment in shaping our lives, and meaningful civic engagement. She values collaboration and community-centered solutions that help Frederick thrive. Sarah is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she has been involved for more than 20 years. She is a member and former board member of the Association of Consultants for Liturgical Space and is part of the Blue Elephant Art Studios on West 5th Street. A professional sculptor, Sarah is best known for creating the Claire McCardell monument. She holds a master’s degree in Medieval and Renaissance Studies from Hood College and has taught sculpture at Frederick Community College.
