Bob Hovis is a lifelong resident of Gaston County. He has served on the Gaston County Board of Commissioners since 2016, previously serving as mayor of Bessemer City and on numerous county-appointed advisory boards. He has also been recognized for his volunteerism, including being named Gaston County Volunteer of the Year in 2002, and has been involved with the Bessemer City Chamber of Commerce for nearly four decades.
