Mayor Richard Franks, a Gastonia native, was elected Gastonia’s 44th mayor in November 2023. He graduated from Hunter Huss High school and studied human services at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. A retired businessman, he previously owned a screen-printing and embroidery company in Gastonia.
