Councilman Derrick Thompson is a Mount Vernon native and a product of its school district. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Mercy College and began his career at the Mount Vernon School District in 1995. He is dedicated to serving his community, uplifting, encouraging, and teaching people, and has been on the front lines ensuring residents were taken care of during the Covid-19 pandemic.
