About

Madelyn Scales Harris was first elected to the Murfreesboro City Council in 2010, with her current term expiring in 2030. A Murfreesboro native, she is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and retired from State Farm Insurance. Scales Harris comes from a family of "firsts," having been selected as the 1st Female Vice-Mayor, following her father, the 1st Black Male Vice-Mayor, and her mother, the 1st Black Female to serve on the Murfreesboro City Council.
