Vice Mayor Lue R. Ward, Jr. was born in the former Nansemond County, Virginia. He was elected to the Suffolk City Council on November 6, 2012 and was sworn in on January 2, 2013, as the representative of the Nansemond Borough. He was elected by his colleagues as Vice Mayor on January 3, 2023. Vice Mayor Ward's term expires December 31, 2028.
